Week 3

Kim has been working hard, training 5 days per week, on top of her swimming on her own to train for the swim portion of a triathlon. The intensity of her training has also picked up, and her strength and endurance gains are evident. Her body composition is also changing, as she's adding muscle and shedding fat.

The biggest aspect of this journey so far is discovering the underlying issues that have surfaced. She has lost 10 lbs since starting the program 3 weeks ago, but it's slow going. She's had blood tests done and recently saw a nutritionist. Her training and diet are right on par, but since she's a woman in her late 40's, her hormones are affecting the rate at which she's losing the weight. Adding elements such has flax seed and other supplements will hopefully help balance her hormones and get her metabolism on track.

As far as her training sessions go, Kim is a machine. Sessions are broken up into full body max effort days, dynamic days, including kettlebell and medicine ball work, and pure conditioning. Her strength gains so far have been impressive, increasing her deadlift and squat, while improving her form. Her endurance levels have also improved. The kettlebell work, concentrating on swings and snatches, have really helped improve her movement patterns for the bigger lifts, as well as improving her explosive strength.

We will continue to tweak the nutrition portion, while continuing the training model she's currently on, progressing in weight and working in more movement based exercises.
